Text: Proverbs 9:10; 29:25
Big Idea: The fear of God casts out our fear of man.
Discussion Questions
1. How have you heard the phrase "fear of the Lord" defined or described?
2. How did your relationship with your earthly father help or hinder your ability to understand "fear of the Lord" along with safety and security in the Lord's presence?
3. Does your natural thinking about God lend itself more toward seeing Him as a mighty Judge and Creator, or more toward loving Father and Friend? Why do you think you tend that way and do you think it's a proper balance of both?
4. In what ways do you most struggle with the "fear of man" in your life? (Think: people-pleasing, identity, purpose, value, worthwhileness, etc.)
5. How has "fear of man" most impacted living the faithful life God has called you to? Or, in what ways has the "fear of man" been an obstacle to obedience?
6. What could it look like to take a step toward living in the "fear of God" over living in the "fear of man" in your current circumstances of life? (ex. sharing your faith with a neighbor or friend)
7. Spend time as a group praying for the Martins to be encouraged in their work and for their updated prayer requests.
